ALEXANDRA PLACE, ARBROATH
The former Arbroath Lads Football club had sat on the site of Alexandra Place since the early 50’s. The ground had been gifted to the boys club from a generous previous owner and it remained a boys football club until approx. 2010/11 when it was agreed that the boys club and its condition was no longer suitable for health and safety of its users and the club moved their premises elsewhere. The land was put up for sale by the club and it was purchased with the intent of building a single Architect designed family home for the managing director of Moir Construction. However through much deliberation and market research it was identified that the site may benefit as a high class flatted development targeted at those individuals looking to downsize properties. Designed by the Voigt Partnership in consultation with Moir Construction planning permission was granted for 6 good sized residential flats.
In 2013/14 these properties were advertised off plan with 4 of the 6 properties being sold off plan prior to any works commencing onsite. The development was built out and completed in 2015 by which time all 6 flats were completed and handed over to their current owners.
The Alexandra Place site was a mixture of contemporary and traditional build with some key features being the external cladding and locally sourced Denfind stone finish. All properties were finished with quality kitchen and bathrooms with Oak veneer doors and Oak skirting and facings.
