VIEWFIELD COURT, ARBROATH
The former Viewfield Hotel in Arbroath once the busiest hotel and public house establishment throughout the seventies/eighties and was sold for development in 2014. The Viewfield remained popular amongst revellers until its closure with special band nights and gatherings but it had lost most of its former glory and the decision was taken to close the doors once a developer was onboard to take it forward.
The site was sold to a local businessman in 2013/14 and planning permission was granted to develop the site into 20 residential flats. One of the conditions of planning was to retain the original Viewfield House building which fronted the previous hotel buildings. This part was to be converted into 4 residential flats with 16 new build flats in the grounds of the former hotel.
Moir Construction were awarded the contract as main contractor based largely on the success of Alexandra Place flatted development. The Viewfield Court flats were the same design as Alexandra Place which were designed by the Voigt partnership.
These kits were manufactured in Moir Constructions workshops and transported to site.
